Every collection has a beginning. Ours started more than 60 years ago.
In the 1960s, my grandfather, Ernie, discovered a passion for collecting coins. What began as a hobby quickly became a lifelong love of history, craftsmanship, and the stories each coin carries. Over the years, he shared that passion with my father, who continued building the collection and passed down the same appreciation for numismatics to me.
Growing up, coins were more than collectibles—they were a way for our family to spend time together. Every new find had a story, every coin had a history, and every collection represented years of patience, learning, and excitement. Those experiences shaped the way I view this hobby today.
Now, I'm fortunate enough to pass that same tradition on to my own children. Watching them experience the excitement of discovering a new coin reminds me of where this journey began with my grandfather all those years ago. Four generations of our family have shared the same passion, and we hope that legacy continues for many years to come.
As collectors ourselves, we eventually discovered Whatnot. Like many people, we started as buyers, enjoying the thrill of live auctions and adding incredible pieces to our collection. After winning some amazing coins and becoming part of the community, we realized we wanted to create that same experience for others.
That's how APA Coins was born.
What started as a simple idea has grown into a thriving family-run live show where we combine our love of numismatics with entertainment, education, and an incredible community of collectors. Whether we're offering rare certified coins, gold and silver bullion, or one of our signature surprise sets and Vault events, our goal is always the same—to make every show fun, fair, and memorable.
Today, APA Coins is more than just a business. It's the continuation of a family tradition that began with my grandfather in the 1960s. Every live stream, every package we ship, and every customer we meet is part of that story.
